To achieve the maximum benefits from your treatment following this aftercare is an important part of your treatment.

Directly after a treatment – Skin appears quite red, inflamed and slightly swollen, it will probably feel hot, sore and may even sting a little, this initial reaction normally subsides after several hours. If the area feels particularly hot and uncomfortable, place cold dampened clean cotton wool pads soaked in the soothing product onto the treated area. Do not apply any other product to the treated area unless specifically advised to do.

Always

  • Avoid touching the area unnecessarily.
  • Cleanse around the treated area and pat dry (avoid rubbing).
  • Apply a soothing product regularly with clean fingertips or damp cotton wool to the treated area (apply liberally, always on top of the existing application, this will keep the area cool and prevent infection from entering).
  • Avoid direct heat such as hot baths or showers, saunas, or exposure to UV light (sun or sunbeds). Also be careful of a hot hairdryer and avoid deodorant (if had underarm area treated e.g., a skin tag).
  • Use a minimum of SPF 25 over areas treated (and exposed to UV light).
  • Avoiding anything that may be associated with causing the skin blemish in the first place (blowing noses hard, alcohol, spicy food, glasses too tight etc)

To achieve the maximum benefits from your treatment following this aftercare is an important part of your treatment.

Directly after a treatment – Get plenty of rest and stay warm, you may feel tired after treatment, allow time to rest and relax mentally and physically. Avoid eating a heavy meal.

24 hours – Avoid smoking, rich, or spicy food, alcohol, and caffeine.

Occasionally, you may experience any of the following reactions up to 24-48 hours after treatment; this is known as a contra-action or a ‘Healing Reaction’ and is the body’s natural response to the treatment: localised tenderness, aching or soreness within the muscles, headache, dizziness or nausea, flu like symptoms, increased trips to the toilet, increased thirst, fatigue, restlessness and inability to settle/sleep and a disrupted sleeping pattern, feeling tearful or dehydrated. These reactions are uncommon but perfectly normal and show that toxins are being expelled from the body, so that it may re-balance and cleanse itself, and you will feel a greater sense of well- being afterwards.

Always

  • Drink plenty of water (1.5-2 litres per day) and eat a balanced diet.
  • Listen to your body.
  • Book in for regular treatments every 2 – 4 weeks.
